Food Safety Engineer

Dr. Ovissipour, is an Assistant Professor, Seafood AREC/Department of Food Science and Technology, Virginia Tech University. He received his first Ph.D. in Seafood Science and Technology in 2010 from TMU, in Iran, and his second Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering from Washington State University in 2017. He came to U.S. in 2011 and started working as a researcher and lab manager at the School of Food Science, Washington State University from 2011 to 2015 and Research Associate, Department of Food Science and Technology, UC Davis, Davis, CA. (Dr. Nitin’s Lab) from 2017 to 2018.

Dr. Ovissipour published more than 60 papers in the area of food science and food safety and serving as an industry advisory board member for USDA-WRAC and scientific board member for several start-up companies. He has several patents and was the founder of a biotechnology company in Iran and commercialized several products. Currently, his research centered around food safety engineering.
